中外学者学术论文引言部分语步词块特征

摘要:

词块是学术研究语篇化的语言资源,标志着语言产出的学科化。现有研究主要围绕词块在学术论文的全局分布,少有系统考察词块构建特定语步结构的修辞功能。本研究聚焦学术论文引言部分,对比中外学者如何调用词块依序“创建研究空间”,通过“自上而下”解构引言的语步序列,“自下而上”分析各语步内四词词块的结构与功能特征。结果发现,中国学者四词词块的使用高于英语母语学者,然其词块多样性略显不足。一方面,中外学者倾向于运用词块描述研究,构建语篇,但是英语母语学者偏重名词词块和介词词块,而中国学者更依赖通过动词词块和从句词块实现上述两大功能。另一方面,在同一导向功能下,中外学者在不同语步中使用的词块也存在明显差异,中国学者在占据该空间语步中更注重语篇连贯性的构建,倾向于用被动动词词块突出语篇的客观性,而英语母语学者则更多使用模糊语词块来增强措辞的严谨性。研究发现为中国英语学习者的词块习得和撰写符合国际学术规范的英文引言提供了一定参考。

Lexical bundles are the linguistic resources of textualization in academic research, which marks the disciplinarization of language production. Most studies have explored the distribution of lexical bundles in the full text of research articles; however,few studies have systematically examined the rhetoric function in constructing the specific moves.Through “top-down” deconstruction of the moves,the study “bottom-up” analyzed the structures and functions of 4-word lexical bundles in each move and compared how Chinese and L1-English scholars use the bundles to “Create a Research Space” in the research articles' introduction. The results show that Chinese scholars use a significantly higher number of and less diversity of lexical bundles than L1-English writers do. Chinese and L1-English writers employ more research-oriented and text-oriented bundles,but L1-English writers rely more on NP-related and PP-related forms while Chinese scholars rely on VPrelated and Clause-related constructions. On the other hand, significant differences are found between the two groups of writers in dif ferent moves, even under the same function. Chinese writers use more textoriented bundles to promote the discourse coherence in move one and rely more on passive structures to highlight the objectivity of the discourse, while L1-English writers tend to use hedging bundles to enhance the wording exactness. The findings provide a reference for Chinese English learners to acquire lexical bundles and write introductions conforming to international academic norms.
